ELENA’S WORST NIGHTMARE - Elena awakens on the morning after the accident to find the thing she dreaded most has come true - she died with vampire blood in her system and now must go through the terrible transition to become a vampire…or face certain death. Stefan promises Elena that he and Bonnie will exhaust every possible way out of the situation, but Damon is furious with his brother for letting Elena die in the first place. Bonnie pays a terrible price for her attempt to change Elena’s fate, while Damon takes out his frustration and rage on Matt. In a rare moment of empathy, Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt) is deeply touched by Stefan and Elena’s devotion to one another. Finally, Pastor Young (guest star Michael Reilly Burke) and the Town Council members begin rounding up the vampires and their supporters, leading to an unexpected tragedy. Steven R. McQueen, Candice Accola, Michael Trevino and Joseph Morgan also star. Chris Grismer directed the episode written by Caroline Dries.
A RE-IMAGINING OF THE CLASSIC TALE — When she was a teenager, Catherine “Cat” Chandler (Kristin Kreuk, “Smallville”) witnessed the murder of her mother. Cat would have been killed too, but someone – or something – saved her. Now, years have passed and Cat is a police officer, investigating a case that leads her to the person who saved her: a doctor named Vincent Keller (Jay Ryan, “Terra Nova”). With the help of his childhood friend J.T. Forbes (Austin Basis, “Life Unexpected”), Vincent has been in hiding, guarding his secret — when enraged, he becomes a terrifying beast, unable to control his super strength. Still, Cat is touched by the person that lives within the Beast and she knows she has to keep her relationship with Vincent a secret from her boss, Joe Bishop (Brian White, “The Shield”), her partner, Tess Vargas (Nina Lisandrello, “Nurse Jackie”), and even from her close friend, Evan Marks (Max Brown, “The Tudors”), the medical examiner. Cat and Vincent are powerfully drawn to one another, but they understand that their connection is extremely dangerous for both of them. BIRKHOFF TELLS NIKITA ABOUT SONYA — Birkhoff (Aaron Stanford) tells Nikita (Maggie Q) that Sonya (guest star Lyndie Greenwood) is Amanda's (Melinda Clarke) mole and not only has Amanda reactivated Sonya's kill chip but she also placed a second mole in Division to keep an eye on her. Nikita, Michael (Shane West) and Ryan (Noah Bean) devise a plan to use Sonya to ferret out Amanda's hiding place and Birkhoff sets a trap for the second mole. Meanwhile, Michael confronts Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) about her drug use and she begs him not to tell Nikita. Dwight Little directed the episode written by Michael Brandon Guercio.
SAM AND DEAN MEET THEIR GRANDFATHER — Sam and Dean are stunned when a man who claims to be Henry Winchester (guest star Gil McKinney), their grandfather, suddenly appears in their hotel room demanding to know where he can find John Winchester. Henry has time-traveled to stop a demon named Abbadon (guest star Alaina Huffman) and was looking for John’s help. Through Henry, Sam and Dean learn more about their father and the Winchester blood line. Serge Ladouceur directed the episode written by Adam Glass.
JONATHAN BENNET AND JAMES CROMWELL STAR - Bud Vogel (James Cromwell) has never talked about his experiences in WWII – until his grandson Kyle (Jackson Bond) discovers the footlocker Bud used in the war. Bud tells Kyle he can pick any three souvenirs, and Bud will tell him the stories behind each one. The mementos tell the story of Bud’s complicated wartime past, and the future that awaits the grown-up Kyle (Jonathan Bennett), as well. The movie was directed by Adrian Vitoria.
